Missions - Across the Street, Around the World
I am the Missions Director at New Life Community Church. My life has never been so exciting! I love every minute devoted to Missions and am so blessed to meet so many wonderful people who bring hope to people in spiritual darkness.
It is especially rewarding to hear all about the many mission trips and how lives are transformed. I hear over and over again from both students and adults that service to the Lord is the most fulfilling event in their lives. It becomes a passion to make a difference.
We have a great Missions Team at New Life. The members are very dedicated and many of the members have been involved in Missions for many years. Our doors are opened to all who wish to be involved either here at home or around the world.
Our Jr. High and Sr. High both participate in Work & Witness trips. Our Senior High Pastor Doug Smith said when he first became a youth pastor he would take the youth on trips like snow skiing or camping. After coming to New Life Pastor Doug felt the call to introduce missions to the students. He engaged the youth in mission trips and discovered how these trips bounded the youth and drew them closer to our Lord Jesus. His plan is to have one urban trip a year, one regional trip, one trip to Mexico and every four years a trip to a foreign country.
The youth have also started an outreach program at our church. The adults bring homeless people to our church where they can shower and get fresh clothes. The youth prepare a meal for the homeless and serve them on tablecloth tables while engaging in conversion.
Missions is about ordinary people doing extraordinary work sharing God's truth to people. Missions brings hope to loneliness, discouragement, conflict and illness. It is a life changed by the good news of Jesus.
Our goal at New Life Church is to send out 10% of our congregation each year. Perhaps God is calling you to get involved in a short term project. We are here to assist you in such a project.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end". Matthew 24:19-20
